The BTA has received approval under the new criteria of apprenticeships in England from both the Maritime Skills Alliance (MSA) and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to launch the training scheme for the Tug sector offering Maritime Studies Qualifications (MSQs) «more here»

The BTA's existing training schemes and NVQ qualifications have been phased out since last March 2010. They have been replaced by Maritime Skills Qualifications (MSQ) developed in conjunction with the Maritime Skills Alliance. «more here»
